As a Grateful Dead fan since 1972 I became engrossed in lyricist Robert Hunter's approach to writing. In 1985 I established an ongoing correspondence with him, leading to his thanking me from the stage at the Kaiser Arena in Oakland on 12/4/02.

In 1977 I enrolled at the Jack Kerouac School Of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, studying with Alan Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Ann Waldman and Larry Fagin. They gave me my first insight into beatnik style imagery.

After moving to San Francisco in the early 1980's, I focused on writing song lyrics, collaborating and recording with a variety of musicians and composers. Check out my Catalog of nearly 70 CD's.

Spawned from the 1960's Haight Ashbury, Squid B. Vicious has performed with Carlos Santana, Harvey Mandel, and scores of other Bay Area musicians. He plays and sings his compositions with my lyrics on over 40 CD's .
