Music by SQUID B. VICIOUS

SQUID AND I MET in the nineteen-eighties through mutual friend Dave Gross. We began making music together in 1991 and started writing together 3 years later. Hear our early work.

The penultimate set of Squid Vicious. Twelve songs out of 400 made the cut to be reborn by this all star band. Seven professional singers shared the vocals. Composers Jody Salino and Phis Ramsey did originals within this band as well. J.C. Flyer, Val Steinberg, Val Starr, Jeff Sullins, Lonnie Lazar, Dave Gross and Sharon Sofia brings Ron's words and Squid's music to life to celebrate Ron's 50th birthday. Join the party and dowload the whole set for free!

Ron Marcus' debut album arranged and produced by Squid B.Vicious featuring Brad Gillis of Night Ranger on lead guitar and Ernest `Boom' Carter on drums. Guest vocalists include Linda Imperial, Carol Mayedo, Jimmy Martin, Tim Fisher and Dave Gross. "The songs are strong, well played & sung, compellingly moderne." -Robert Hunter     11/8/95

The beginning of the writing partnership of Squid and Ron as he provides a needed rock and roll spark to my words. Ten years later these songs still stand strong. These are the first of 400 songs yet to come! This is a wonderfully crafted album of gems. "Ride on the Sound" is an instant classic ballad. "Hit and Run" is funky with Slip Madagain at the vocal helm. "Cracks in Barriers" is a total rocker demanding social change. " Songbirds" is a love song that hints of many more to come spilling from Ron's heart through Squid's strings. Squid provides a needed spark to Ron's words.

Ron's inital foray into spoken word. Backed by Squid B. Vicious on keyboards Ron reads poems about his sports heroes and left wing politics. "Mohommad Ali" is yours free and is totally cool. "Barry Bonds" was written before his middle age explosion in the O's and shows how Ron worships the greatest player since Willie Mays. "Women's Role" is an example of what goes through the political mind of Ron Marcus.

"Tender Wrapping", available for free, is Ron and Squid's favorite ballad. Of the scores of soft songs this was chosen to be played live by the Squid Vicious Orchestra. Slip Madagain appears like a heavy metal vocal god on "Cold Eyes" and "Won't You Come Along". Dave Gross explodes into a funk monster on "Foxy Fool". "Sail Away" is heavy metal taken from Ron whisteling a melody that Squid turned to pure power! "Dreams With No Ceiling" is pure Rolling Stones. The music was written when Squid literally ran into Mick Jagger on Valencia street in San Francisco. After making sure Mick was ok, Squid turned the encounter into a classic rocker. With Squid B. Vicious Ron Marcus' musical dreams have no ceiling.

BY 2001 I WAS PRODUCING lyrics at a much greater pace and wanted more faster! So instead of guests and a smoking band he focused on the songs and how they stand on their own. This was a breakthrough in our process, and we have since produced over two dozen CDs.

This is Ron at his lowest, reliving his past like some 12 stepper apologizing for his obsession. If you want regret, hurtfull honesty and depression then download it for free. Otherwise DO NOT LISTEN to this CD. However, it is the introduction of Sharon Sofia to the Ron Marcus legacy. She would go on to play on 20 of Ron's CDs.

This is the introduction of Acoustic Squid to the Ron Marcus collection. He puts a country twinge to "Days Will Turn to Years" and "End of the West". "Darkness That Blinds" has a haunting acoustic rhythm. "Kathy" is a beautiful ballad for Kathy Gordon, Ron's first soul mate. "Tumble Down Whiskey" is an antenna song that was transmitted from Ron's imagination through the fingers of Squid B. Vicious.

I spent a week in Amsterdam with my lovely wife Patti Maloney, along with her sister Carol and husband Steve Carrizo, the Wine Philosopher. Patti asked for ten love songs and I delivered. Squid completed the music and recording in three weeks. Each one is a total rocker wrapped in love lyrics. "Wheels of Love" is a taste of the power of this CD and you can dowload it free! "Flying The Kite" is symphonic in its power. "Love Day And Night" rocks with fury. "Sunhine In The Night" is a classic.

This Cd rocks from the start. "Distance Between Us" is a complete rocker that defines the Squid B. Vicious sound. The words are angry and the guitars are screaming. "Bad Intentions" has icy cold words that melt by the layered acoustic beauty of Soft Squid. "Force of the Will" is Ron's tribute to Columbine and all victims of bullies. "Empty Nights" is a tribute that Ron wrote for the late Mel Price, the father of his long time great friend Hope Price. She insprited Ron to begin writing and became his first muse.

This is the hardest of all Ron's rock hard rock. Squid asked for a heavy metal CD and Ron obliged with angry words. Then Squid took it beyond the metal edge. "How I Wish" is a perfect example of a broken heart and a loud guitar working together. "State of Mind" is an extreme power ballad as Ron falls into "The Abyss of Time". Squid's understated leads get way overstated! "Trapped" is a rocker lashing out angry lost visions. "Listen in my Song" is one of many pleas by Ron for someone to listen to any of these 700 songs.

Ron and Squid drive through the "Smokey Mountains" of their imagination to produce a blend of nice songs. "Carolina" is one of the oldest lyrics of Ron, conceived in 1980, five years before any of his words were set to music. Squid reinterpreted Ron's bluegrass idea and gave it a different life. "Its Bad to Be Low" is Squid in his full splendor of softness creating a beautiful rendition. "The Art of Listening" has fantastic vocal harmonies and is a lesson is Zen. "I Often Wonder" is incredibly psychedelic. "Waiting for a Revolution" is a reggae nod to this smokey CD. "Purity" is another true Squid classic about friendship reborn.

This is Squid B. Vicious' favorite Ron Marcus CD. In honor of his mother, Mrs. Vicious, "Between Two Worlds" is a mixture of desperation and hope. In the fifteen years Ron has worked with Squid he is continually impressed with the way Squid takes care of Mrs. Vicious, who was ailing at the time these songs were written. "The Cycle of Nature" is a nod to the Byrds and will be one of the chosen dozen Squid tunes played live. "The Return to Despair" is downright hutrfull in its emotion. "January" is Ron's only Christmas carol. Hear it this Christmas.

IN AUGUST 2002 I STARTED TO WRITE some love songs. After writing sixty in one week I stopped to type them! One year later I had written 400 love songs.

This is the only music CD where Ron wrote ten songs in this order specifically for this project. Ron's first concept album! He ordered strictly blues with big horns. Squid obliged in spades. James Brown is the thought behind "These Blues are Old News", a very funky thought. "3014" is Ron's tribute to all 911 victims. Squid pulled off the delicate balance of loss, anger and healing. "Squidrophonic" is Ron honoring the great Squid B. Vicious. "Through All of Our Blues" is as beautiful as Squid and Ron can get.

The zenith of Ron's creative output. A product of pure inspiration. This is the first batch of love songs. Ron embraced his love muse and landed "In the Light of Creation". Love songs don't have to be all soft and cute. Squid B. Vicious shows many different styles of the same theme. "Alphabet" has a snappy pop tempo and sets the stage for many love songs to come. "Focus on my Feelings" brings out the sizzling lead guitar ballad side of Squid. Extremely emotive playing. "Poetry" is a nod to U2 and remains Ron's most powerful love song with Squid. When the Squid B. Vicious Orchestra played on July 7, 2007 this song was chosen out of 400 originals as the set closer. Hear it now for free. This is a truly great CD.

Ten more from the first sixty love songs that start to flow through Squid's rock and roll. He also shows a softer side as Ron begins to wear him down. There's a cool blend of reggae, "My Advice" rock "Just Us Two", "Your Heart Belongs" and incredible soft ballads, "Overwhelming This Boy", "The Most Beautiful Woman", "I Can't Stop Writing" and "Point of View". Squid leaves the arena and lands in a cocktail lounge. But no lounge lizards here, just a Squid singing love songs. "Your Heart Belongs" in your collection. Download it now and play it to your lover tonight.

Water is the theme of these ten love songs. Squid starts to settle down in an endless pool of love songs. `Freedom to Ride' has a Latin feel that has become Ron's theme song. Hear this classic for free! "Flooded With Rhyme" is a hair raiser. Squid captures Ron's emotional outpouring and continues to make music magic. "Splendid Waters" goes country. "Like The Ocean" and "Surfboard Of Time" are pure surf rhythms.

Dreams transmitted through waking love songs. Squid B. Vicious is on a dreamy roll as he rocks ten more love songs. "The Air I Breathe" is the perfect interpretation of pure love beautiful harmonies and acoustic guitar. "Waking in the Land of Dreams" captures the feel of dreams that never end. "Fire of History" is a stunning rocker and "Winter in the Spring" has the climate of a rapper. Finally "Slow Hours" is Squid's tribute to the ska movement. A diverse collection of demos with lots of love lyrics from Ron. "The Air I Breathe" and Waking in the Land of Dreams" are two of only twelve songs Squid played live.

Squid leaves the cocktail lounge and goes back to the arena where the love song sojourn continues with "Crystal Clear Love" clarity. "Thunder" is nod to the great punk movement in the late 1970s, but with a positive vibe. "Dreams of Color" are the words of a psychedelic cowboy. "Opening Day" is for every baseball fan. "The River Remains" will leave you wanting more. Let Ron and Squid melt into your soul.

Squid leaves the arena and lands in a coffee house for an acoustic folk feel. Two songs made the Squid B. Vicious Orchestra set at Ron's 50th birthday party. They are "You Are A Dove" (available for free) and "Making Love." These are amazing songs that Ron loves. Squid goes all acoustic as he's overcome by Ron's love song binge. "The Winds Of Celebration" has a taste of Elton John. Frankly, this is a great CD featuring Ron at his strongest and Squid at his softest.

In a return to his Haight-Ashbury roots Squid tackles a Farfisa sound to give a 1960s spin on Ron's love lyrics. "Diamond" is Ray Manzerek! "Your Light Shines Through Me" and "Cobblestone Alley" are totally San Francisco. "In the Afterglow" is like an acid trip exploring all our "Senses". The words of "Fields of Wonder" are a nod Ron gave to Sting's "Fields of Gold", but Squid gave it a 60s life in the 0's.

In a complete 180 from anything Squid has done Ron gave him ten love songs and demanded modern dance Euro pop. Squid investigated the night life and came out with a new sound. House mix with electric rhythms that would heat up any dance club. "Electric World" is a perfect example. "New Muse" is an exhilarating nod to Ron's love muse. "Starting To Get Hot" is equal to any dance number on radio or in clubs. This CD is totally different from any Ron or Squid work on this website.

Classic Rock Squid turns ten Ron love songs into pure energy rock and roll. Squid continues his brilliance with fresh interpretations of the song's theme, pure love. There are no saps here, though, only snappy modern tunes. "River Rolls Time" is an anthem. "Inside Night" is current reggae. "Through The Distance" is a rock and roll journey. There are no weak spots "Inside Night".

Ron became lyrically transformed when he discovered the solo career of Byrds co-founder Gene Clark. The extreme depth of his imagery, his unparalled voice and his tragic story affected Ron like no other lyricist since Bob Dylan and Robert Hunter. This special CD is his tribute to the master. "Gene Clark" and "Words of my Art" are specific honors. The rest Squid tried to give a nod to all of Gene's influences. Country, bluegrass, folk, psychedelic, blues and rock all merge into pop with real feeling. Ron and Squid have captured the spirit of the great Gene Clark.

Squid goes acoustic with special guest Sharon Sofia from Ron's Spoken Word Band. She plays beautiful melodies on the flute to Squid's chord changes. These are still Squid rock compositions, just played on wooden guitars (instead of metal!!!). "A Jewel in the Shadows" is a work of soft beauty. Sample it now for free! "All Guns are Silent" and "Yesterday's All Right" acoustically rock. "Neil Young" is Ron's nod to a lyricist rumored to have more songs than Ron!

Squid lands in "Nature's Garden" with a very electric guitar. "Golden Waves" rolls like a surfer and is Ron at his psychedelic best. Squid shows his day-glo side on "Flowers in Your Eyes". "Hot Fever" is just that. "In the Echoes of a Dream" and "Time is Unkind" is more modern, but very psychedelic as well. "Gentle Wind" is anything but gentle. Listen and it will blow you away right to another download!

Ten fresh rockers. "Misty Sadness" is the ballad of the bunch and is yours for free. The rest rock off the sreeen, and you have to buy them! "Sorrow's Road," "A Tear In The Night" and "Singing And Shouting" will rock your sensibilities. Let Squid B. Vicious take you on a rock and rill ride and feel the "Thoughts I Left Behind."

Full on frontal guitar attack with pop melodies. This is one of Squid's most consistent efforts. Every song has potential for greatness. Ron explores the emotions of love and Squid turns them into solid gold rock. "Full Eclipse" gives a partial example to the sensation Squid is riding on. "Waterfall" will shower you with harmony. "I Live in a World" is a world that always dances.

Hear Squid B. Vicious unleash his fourth straight rocker. A model of consistency, Squid continues to find new approaches to rock songs to make them uniquely his sound. He interprets Ron's psychedelic love vision with a rock and roll backbone. "Broken History" still promises hope that there is more than the past to look for. "Can't Hold Back" and "Not Empty Any More" are formed from the energy of rock. Includes two bonus tracks!!

Squid asked for mystical songs, and Ron delivered. Fresh from New Orleans Ron wrote :The Queen of Voodoo" and "The Sorcerer Of Songs." Squid gives them the appropriate cajun psychedelic slant. "A Quiet Night" is anything but. "Dreams In My Dreams Tonight" is a beautiful country love song. "Garden Of The Sun" is a classic, one of Ron's favorite Squid pieces.

An eclectic mix of dance songs with a modern edge and acoustic layered pop beats. "Any Time" is a heart felt love message that Squid laces with emotion. "Inspiration and Creation" sends Squid back to his reggae roots with The Caribbean All-Stars. "Eternal Love" takes Squid further back to the 1950s and its Happy Days. Try a couple of downloads and dance inside your brain.

As you can hear for free "Joy" is a fantastic expression of pure love exhilaration. It’s difficult to translate to an average listener, but Ron and Squid hit just right on the spot. "I Had a Vision" is very heavy metal. "I Wake to the Sun" brings a Spanish flavor and "My Whole World" completes the CD with Euro pop. The love songs keep dripping from Ron's wet heart.

The love songs keep pouring out climbing the "Stairways Of My Mind" to your heart. "Night Crawler" will keep you awake! "In Your Eyes" is as strong as any radio hit. "The Answer Is Forever" rocks on. "Think Of Me" when you download it.

"Any River That Rolls will land in your ear and never go away! This song is a true Squid Vicious classic and one that Ron is most proud of. This is an upbeat CD as Squid cooks a soup of horns, percussion, cutting edge keyboard effects and subtle flurries with positive imagery from Ron. "I Am The Singer" is a beautiful love ballad. "Juice of the Day" provides a neat setting for a twilight moment at the end of a perfect day.

If you listen to the sample "Three Decades Away" you can learn a lesson about following up high school reunions. Don’t Do It!!! The rest of the CD is much more positive. "The Forest of Freedom" is a tribute to the late Johnny Cash. "Moments of Glory" rocks straight to the dance floor and "Dripping Memories of Time" is a psychedelic vision. Songs of freedom and harmony under the thunder.

Massive guitar. Try the free download for "Metal Storm." Squid has heavy metal dripping from his fingers and unleashes flurries of leads. "Rock Like A Rainbow" rocks like a Squid formula for instant hits. "If You Let Me Know The Way" brings shades of Ron's Bob Dylan influence. This album brings a blizzard of hard rock.

Squid is buzzing through his amplifier and making you electric. This CD has a steady beat of solid rock numbers with layered textures of keyboard and harmonies. A danceable blend of funk, blues and rock to get your buzz on. “We Are Like Two Rivers” was put together in one night as Squid made it an instant classic.

Ron dips into his love song treasure chest from 2002 to bring ten tunes to life. Squid B. Vicious gives them a very modern interpretation with provocative dance beats. ‘Treasure’ features rare slide guitar from Squid, and ‘So Flow Naturally’ is a beautiful ballad with a current touch. The rest are solid dance songs with today’s sound. What else lies in the love song boom box that is yet to come?

Ron turns out some space age lyrics for a trip through infinity. Let the Infinity Racer drive you along this astral journey. It starts with Psychedelic Town where Ron visit’s the Haight-Ashbury roots of Squid in a fitting tribute for rock impresario Chet Helms. Lines of Love is pure rocking Squid sung with true passion. Like Swallows is another on the Squid B. Vicious love song production line and is an absolute beauty. Ron is so proud to have a composer who matches his love lyrics with beautiful melodies (by the hundreds!). The Clouds of Night is a total 1960s imaginative tune.

Squid requested a left wing protest CD to outdo Neil Young's 'Living With War.' Ron gave it a valiant try even skewering Mother Theresa in 'Blood Money'. Every song is political anger with modern punk and funk beats. 'Not This Time' sets the tone. 'I Am A Liberal' cuts to the political left bone. 'Everybody’s Lying' gives a fresh perspective of all sides of the aisle. Finally, 'Grab the Power' is a plea to take action and throw the bums out. Get political with Ron and Squid on the left wing.

This dark CD is Ron’s reaction to Kathy Gordon’s 50th birthday party on 12/9/06. It was a wonderful night, but it brought the past back like a slap on the cheek. "I Don’t Want to Go" and "If I Fall" stand out. Squid magically creates pop melodies out of Ron’s lamenting regrets.

Finally Ron returns to the optimism and love songs that are his trademark. "Crystal Vision"and "Completely in Love" are vivid reminders. All the songs rock with a fresh energy and move well as Ron will "Rock Right Through" to the "Rock and Roll Mountains."

Ron tries to get in Squid’s head as he cares for his mother, Mrs. Vicious. This entire CD was composed, recorded and mixed in the hospital lobby! It is a rocker with sensitive lyrics. "Staring Out The Window" is an instant classic. "How Much Longer" and "Still Feel Like Laughing" dig deep into Squid’s soul. Squid Vicious has essentially sacrificed his career to care for Mrs. Vicious. This is a tribute to his compassion.

Music by JODY SALINO

I started writing with Jody Salino in 1991. These demos are outtakes from Reds, Yellows and Blues and some of our first compositions. "Walkimg On Sacred Ground" is a tribute to Ron and Jody's decades long love of the Grateful Dead. "Inside Your Mind" is of a similar vein. "Shadow" is very Pink Floydish. "Electricity" is your free download. Hear Jeff Sullins sing like the Bluescaster that he is.

The birth of Ron's all star spoken word band featuring composer Jody Salino's improvisational guitar with Ernest 'Boom" Carter on drums and Joel Smith on bass. Hear Ron's pleading lyrics match with Jody's chord changes. "Wounds Still Deep" is a reflection on the Middle East. "Take Me Away" become the template for the extended jams Ron craves.

Jody Salino at his acoustic best. These are brilliant settings of my lyrics sung by Jeff Sullins, Val Steinberg and Red Meat's Smelley Kelley. Ernest Carter plays drums with special guest Michael Udelson on keyboards. All these professionals contributed on this 40th birthday present. "The Gypsy Queen Has Found A Home" is Ron's favorite Jody Salino composition. "The Colorful Muse" is total inspiration. "It Will Tell All" is Ron's tribute to the stylings of his mentor, Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. "Keeps My Hopes" is a love ballad brought to live by Jeff Sullins.

Ron had so much fun with the first one he decided to do it again! Try the free download of "Death Of The Ox," Ron and Jody's tribute to The Who's John Entwistle. "Taliban Woman" is topical and scary. "Live Right Through My Age" is a cool Salino Ballad, and "Watching You Dance" gets funky.

Hear a live band play Ron Marcus originals live! Jody Salino songs sung by Val Steinberg backed by Ernest Carter and Mick Chickerio. "Rock And Roll Band In Heaven" is a beautiful rocker that is a tribute to all the great musicians in heaven. Its worth a listen because its free. "Alexander" is anoher Jody Salino rocker. "Hung Up On You" is Mowtown. There are lots of Ron Marcus political songs here as well sung with authority by Val Steinberg.

I made Jody sit down in one session and play sixteen demos. He would probably be pissed I'm including these, but this is pure Ron Marcus. No virtuoso guitar solos or pro singers, just an acoustic guitar and my words. "A Braided Mane Of Sorrow" is an example of the folk - blues approach to Jody's compositions. "Northwest Wind" has a Bob Dylan slant. "Revolution Of The Mind" could be early Neil Young. "Where The River Reaches The Sea" is another pure Jody song. This CD is simple yet magical.

Four years in the making, our signature recording features Ernest Carter, Joel Smith, Doug Budzak, Jeff Sullins and Valerie Starr. Jody out produced himself on this one. "Time Has Moved Too Fast" is your free download on this CD. Jeff Sullins sings out his soul. Ernest 'Boom' Carter shines on the vocals of "As We Separate," Vine Of Libery" and Center Of Your Sound." "California Rain" is so country it made J.C. Flyer jealous. "Barry Bonds" was written before steroids. Warning Ron Marcus is a Barry Bonds apologist.

Music by ERNEST `BOOM' CARTER

One if the world's great drummers shines for one set on the guitar. He rocked the hall at Ron's 5oth birthday party. Joel Smith moved to the drums and held a solid beat for Ernest's virtuoso solos. Sharon Sofia keyboards gave color to Second Hand Smoke's Tony Perez (sax), Joshua Zucker (bass) and Futoshi Moriaka (guitar). Hear all four songs for free and let Ernest Carter penetrate your soul.

Demos of Ernest Carter, the late Brian Polivy and Dylanologist Blair Miller. More unique interpretations of Ron Marcus' lyrics. Ernest plays drums throughout the CD. "Dreams For Peace" and "Doing The Time" (sung by Paul Dunn) are the first two songs of Ernest and Ron. "The Sound Of Enlightenment" is your for free, classic Brian Polivy, Brian and Ron wrote five songs for Ron's 40th birthday in 1997. "Precious Moment" is a real cool one. Blair Miller brings a different approach to Ron's works with "Have You Ever" and "If You Only Knew" and the Buddy Holly like "Linda Lou."

Patti Maloney also asked for ten enlightenment songs. Who else could I turn to but the most enlightened person I know. Ernest Carter is my teacher of drums, music and life, and is now a composer. This is a great offering of his varied musical stylings. Check out his solo release `Temple of Boom' , "Increased Awareness" is the most powerful song in Ron's arsenal. A must for all meditators. "To The Core" rocks to the core of your ears. "Tears Of Narure" is soul at its most beautiful. "Its All About Right Now" goes Latin.

Nearly two years in the making the second Ernest Carter collaboration is ready for downloading. He shows off both his composition skills and versatile instrumentation. Features the tai chi classic, 'Pat' to honor Ron's lovely wife, Pat Maloney. "Hope" is a complete rocker honoring Ron's friend since 1985 Hope Price, his first muse and the person that pushed Ron to start writing. "Sharon" is for Saron Sofia, the unique electric flute player on Ron's spoken word CDs. "Blue Wish" is free and is a fantastic, emotional plea sung with brilliance by Ernest.

Ernest refines his writing style as he embraces Ron's love song binge. His ability to rock is unmatched. "My Dream Fascination" is the greatest song Ernest has written with Ron. Hear it free. "Oh My God" and "Sparkles From The Sun" are very funky gems. "Chords Of Harmony" is a beautiful ballad featuring Sharon Sofia. This is one incredible CD. Just give it a listen and you'll agree.

For the fourth album of Ron's lyrics Ernest went for a 'band' feel rather than the symphony of the previous CD, 'SPARKLES FROM THE SUN'. This time he envisioned a four piece band playing in a small club some cool rock and funk tunes. He was also drowning from the flood of Ron love lyrics and demanded some angry songs for a needed change! Ron came down from his love song buzz for one afternoon and wrote seven bitter songs for this project. 'Angry Heart' says it all best and Ernest punishes the lyrics with heart splitting accuracy. 'She Took The Sun' is a beautiful melody for these sad lonesome words, an idea Ron stole from Gene Clark’s 'She Darked the Sun'. 'Dark Skies' gets funky and angry. 'Out of Memories' is rare Ernest Carter -- just guitar and vocals as Ron laments his past. 'Streams of Romance' is pure Prince. 'The Birth of Infinity' is Ron’s tribute to John Coltrane. 'In A Sunset Over Time' ends the CD with Ron and Ernest offering hope that more love songs are to come!

Ten poems by Ron is memory of Virginia Maloney, Ron's mother in law. Sharon Sofia brings her emotive electric flute to the rhythm section in Ron's only recording without guitars. "With Each Star That Shines" is simply a beautiful love tune. A sad CD done with love for Ron's wife, Patti Maloney. This landmark CD begins the Joel Smith compostion era eventually stretching into 200 songs!

Jody Salino came to town from Philadelphia so we set up a session for him. This time Joel composed the riffs and the band jelled. "Every Night the Stars" was the ballad Ron chose to play at his his 50th birthday party four years later. "An Interesting List" is Ron's top 100 lyricists in rhyme. "Dreams of Infinity" is a dreamy space piece. Jody and Sharon Sofia play together for the first time. Ron's love song explosion spreads to his spoken word.

Jordan Breslow returns and the band solidified. "Winter Is Going Down" is a good example of the power of rock and roll motion. "A Sliver Of Silver" is good word play set to a jazz motif. The love songs continue to roll out of Ron's heart. "Turned To Me" and "You Brought Me To The Light" are prime examples.

Deep in the throws of Ron's love song explosion comes a sense of optimism. Funk erupts in the title track, available here for free! Africa is touched in "Enter A Room". "That Woman Is You" fits Ron's ballad slot perfectly. Joel Smith continues to amaze on every song, especially his solos.

"The Sun Won't Shine Anymore" is a blues tribute to Diane Kaiser, a Deadhead from the 80s who attended many shows with Ron. "Another Brother Is Gone" is for Allen Woody, formerly the bassist for the Allman Brothers Band. Jordan Breslow is wonderful riding his guitar through Ron's soulful words. Joel Smith and Ernest 'Boom' Carter pound their rhythm throughout this whole CD.

Ernest gave Ron a free session and this is the result. Percussionists Sidney Coulter and George Smith sit in and make an immediate impact. Ricky Fishman (Five Headed Hydra) takes over composing and bass. Sharon and Jordan continue to shine and Ernest is forever steady. "What I See" is free to rock you. "Every Utterance" dominates as a power ballad.

Super brilliant fusion guitarist Peter Fujii makes his debut with Ron Marcus in a gigantically beautiful way. This is the sound Ron longs for. A jazz talent with a rocker soul. Peter is the complete package, helping Joel with the composing. "Twig In A River" is a Zen based space song played to perfection. The interplay between Sharon and Peter is just scratching the surface on this fantastic CD. "The Perfect Note" and "Thank The Band" highlight Peter. "Colors With No Light" showoff his jazz skills. The percussionists are back.

Joel Smith is back in position with a high energy CD. "Today I Saw A Brid Fly" has a spanish flavor. "Cure My Ills" is a funk filled exercise. "Frontier" sparkles with intensity from Jordan Breslow. Sharon Sofia, as always, plays with passion and total uniqueness. George Smith plays percussion.

Peter Fujii returns with a flashy splash. "The Streets of New Orleans" was for Ron's wife Patti Maloney's 50th birthday celebration seeing Gov't Mule and Jazz Fest. Download it now for free! "Elevation" fill the need for a Spanish song. "Deeper and Deeper" features Peter Fujii's composing and programming ability. "Love Soaked Rock and Roll" is exactly that as the love songs continue.

"Wilderness Of Imagination" was the opening song at Ron's 50th birthday party. Pure passionate rock. "Wings Of Words" is traditional jazz. In a tribute to the fusion experts in the band, "Tomorrow's Wind" is for them. "Rivers Of Music" shows off Peter Fujii as his leads continue to power Ron's soul.

The band is granite solid by now as Sharon and Peter lock in with Joel and Ernest. "Electric Night" is a touch of modern dance. "Cycles Between Day and Night" could be Ron's favorite emotional rock song he's ever done. This was chosen to be played for Sharon Sofia's 50th birthday party. "Soul Of Paradise" is cool jazz."Twilight of Yesterday" gets very psychedelic.

Finally Ron gets his wish and has Peter Fujii and Jordan Breslow in the same room togehter. What a great pairing with Sharon Sofia's evocative flute. "Shadows In The Darkness", available for free, proves that two guitars are more than twice as good. "The Alter Of Your Love" is a nod to Joel Smith's presence in the Gospel world. "Day Passes Through Night" and "The Darkest Part Of A Star" fill the jazz and rock slots splendidly.

Seventy six minutes of superior jamming blended with Ron's powerful lyrics. "African Sun" and the funkified "Canyons Of Misunderstanding" were picked by Ron to perform live at his party, along with "Jazz In The Morning." "Blow Away" is a bold as rock gets. "An Eastern Wind" features Peter Fujii going Indian. "Room Full Of Rockers" ended Ron's 50th birthday. This is the CD ron perfers to give out to those who are curious about spoken word.

"Empty Highway" is Ron's ultimate blues song. The only song Ron has repeated live! Peter Fujii digs deep in his blues roots and wails. Sharon Sofia is brilliant on "A Wild Ride" and "Acres Of Solitude". "Healing Hands" is a tribute to Ron's wife Patti Maloney's massage teacher, a power woman named Irene Smith. I read this the first time we met at her 60th birthday party. "The Sky" gets down funky.

This is a mournful tribute to Halley Gelpke and Stella Blue Kraft, two teenage girls who died in a tragic accident. Their parents are lifelong friends of Ron from the early 1980s San Francisco Grateful Dead scene. Peter Harris (JGB) joins Peter Fujii to play beautiful music to incredibly sad lyrics. Sharon Sofia’s evocative flute is haunting. "Now She is the Stars," "Two Sisters" and "Visions of Orion" stand out. After 90 songs of brilliance this the last CD featuring Peter Fujii.

Peter Harris joins Jordan Breslow to form a perfect guitar duo. Then check out the electric flute of Sharon Sofia. Add the world’s strongest rhythm section of Joel Smith and Ernest ’Boom’ Carter to Ron Marcus and you get a really cool CD. "Trying to Escape" totally rocks. "Gilded Halls" goes psychedelic. "Silence of Midnight" is rich and soft.

Jim Garcia quest stars with a heavily influenced Jerry Garcia sound and takes us on a wonderful ride. "Got a Notion" is Santana flavored and "Dance Alone" gets funky in a hurry. "Guitar Ring" is a solid blues number and "Sometimes" smokes with guitar leads. It is interesting to hear different guitarist interact with this band. Garcia makes a worthy impact.

Composer Phil Ramsey brings his British Invasion influenced guitar licks to a new format for him. He shines. The guitar interplay with Jordan Breslow is instantly noticed. Phil’s efficient understated leads match Jordan’s power and Sharon Sofia’s perfectly set electric flute. "Wumby" is a 50th brithday present. She requested New Orleans and Joel and Ernest "Singed Feelings" is a deadly rocker. "Raining on my Roses" is Ron’s country corn.

Ron had a new vision for his spoken word band. He wanted a bigger sound so he brought in new composers George Michalski on keyboards and Deirdra Lynds on power guitar. They brought a new balance to Ron’s soulful lyrics. Providing a new dimension was saxaphoist Tony Perez (Second Hand Smoke) and the quality, tasteful guitarist Dean Allen. Mike Chickerio guested on bass and Ron’s cool percussion rounds out the sound of regulars Sharon Sofia and Ernest Carter. This features a tribute to Joel Kinkaide, an original Merry Prankster and a fellow driver who passed away.

Joel Smith returns on bass and music and the results are beautiful. Ten songs of love and its reflections augmented by Larry De La Rosa on stunning saxaphone solos. George Michalski returns with beautiful ballads and magic playing. Regular Jordan Breslow teams with Deirdra Lynds for exciting double leads sparkling with energy. Ron finally fulfills his vision for dual flute solos and walked away fully satisfied on “The Experience”.
